Dua Before Wudu (Starting Ablution) Arabic Text

Before starting Wudu, one should begin with the name of Allah.

بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ

English Transliteration (Pronunciation)

Bismillah

English Translation

In the name of Allah.

Dua After Wudu (Completing Ablution)

After completing the Wudu, it is highly recommended to recite the following supplications.

Part 1: The Testimony of Faith

أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللّٰهُ وَحْدَهُ لَا شَرِيكَ لَهُ، وَأَشْهَدُ أَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا عَبْدُهُ وَرَسُولُهُ

English Transliteration (Pronunciation)

Ash-hadu an la ilaha illallahu wahdahu la sharika lah, wa ash-hadu anna Muhammadan ‘abduhu wa Rasuluh.

English Translation

I bear witness that there is no god but Allah alone, with no partner, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His servant and His Messenger.

Part 2: The Prayer for Purity

It is also recommended to add the following:

اللّٰهُمَّ اجْعَلْنِي مِنَ التَّوَّابِينَ، وَاجْعَلْنِي مِنَ الْمُتَطَهِّرِينَ

English Transliteration (Pronunciation)

Allahummaj-‘alni minat-tawwabina, waj-‘alni minal-mutatahhirin.

English Translation

O Allah, make me among those who repent often, and make me among those who purify themselves.
