2 Powerful Islamic Duas for Speech & Interviews

Eloquence and clarity of speech are profound blessings from Allah. Whether standing before a crowd or sitting in a job interview, anxiety can often tie one’s tongue. Islam teaches us to seek Allah’s help to articulate our thoughts clearly and effectively.

Here are 2 powerful authentic Duas to remove speech impediments and grant success in interviews.

Dua for Speech: Rabbi Ishrah Li Sadri (Remove Speech Impediment)

Importance: This is the famous supplication of Prophet Musa (AS) before he went to speak to Pharaoh. It is the ultimate Dua for confidence, removing anxiety from the chest, and untying the knot from the tongue so that speech becomes clear and easy to understand.

رَبِّ اشْرَحْ لِي صَدْرِي وَيَسِّرْ لِي أَمْرِي وَاحْلُلْ عُقْدَةً مِنْ لِسَانِي يَفْقَهُوا قَوْلِي

Transliteration: Rabbish-rah li sadri, wa yassir li amri, wahlul ‘uqdatan min lisani, yafqahu qauli.

English Translation: “My Lord, expand for me my breast [with assurance], and ease for me my task, and untie the knot from my tongue, that they may understand my speech.” (Surah Taha, 20:25-28)

Dua for Interview: Supplication for Success in Speech

Importance: In an interview, one needs not just confidence, but the ability to say the right thing at the right time. This Dua, taught by the Prophet (PBUH), specifically asks Allah to guide the heart and “straighten the tongue” (make it speak the truth and correct answers).

رَبِّ اهْدِ قَلْبِي وَسَدِّدْ لِسَانِي

Transliteration: Rabbi ahdi qalbi wa saddid lisani.

English Translation: “My Lord, guide my heart and straighten my tongue.” (Sunan At-Tirmidhi: 3551)

Context: This is part of a longer authentic Dua (Rabbi A’inni…) where the Prophet (PBUH) asked for firmness and guidance.
