Daily Routine Duas: 4 Essential Morning & Evening Adhkar
Allah (SWT) says in the Holy Quran:
“So bear with patience (O Muhammad SAW) all that they say, and glorify the Praises of your Lord, before the rising of the sun and before (its) setting.” (Surah Ta-Ha, 20:130)
The Morning and Evening Adhkar (remembrances) are like a suit of armor for a believer. They are a collection of authentic supplications derived from the Quran and the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). Starting and ending your day with these prayers not only earns you immense rewards but also provides spiritual protection against anxiety, harm, and the whispers of Shaytan. Here is a guide to 4 essential Adhkar to incorporate into your daily routine.
Morning & Evening Adhkar: Daily Sunnah Supplications
Importance: This specific Dua is known for providing complete protection. The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) mentioned that whoever recites this three times in the morning and evening, nothing will harm them.
Transliteration: Bismillahil-ladhi la yadurru ma’as-mihi shai’un fil-ardi wa la fis-sama’i, wa Huwas-Sami’ul-‘Alim.
English Translation: “In the Name of Allah, with whose Name is protection against everything in the earth and the heaven, and He is the All-Hearing and All-Knowing.”
Authentic Morning Adhkar: Daily Morning Duas
Importance: This declaration signifies a believer’s reliance on Allah at the start of the day. It affirms that our life and resurrection depend entirely on His will.
Transliteration: Allahumma bika asbahna wa bika amsayna, wa bika nahya wa bika namutu wa ilaykan-nushur.
English Translation: “O Allah, by You we enter the morning and by You we enter the evening, by You we live and by You we die, and to You is the Final Return.”
Authentic Evening Adhkar: Daily Evening Duas
Importance: Similar to the morning prayer, this Dua is recited to entrust one’s soul to Allah as the night approaches. It acknowledges that our ultimate return is to Him.
Transliteration: Allahumma bika amsayna, wa bika asbahna, wa bika nahya wa bika namutu wa ilaykal-masir.
English Translation: “O Allah, by You we enter the evening and by You we enter the morning, by You we live and by You we die, and to You is the final return.”
Sayyidul Istighfar: Dua for Seeking Forgiveness
Importance: This is known as the ‘Master of Seeking Forgiveness’. The Prophet (PBUH) said: “Whoever says this during the day with certainty and dies before the evening, will be among the people of Paradise. And whoever says it during the night with certainty and dies before the morning, will be among the people of Paradise.” (Sahih Al-Bukhari)
Transliteration: Allahumma anta Rabbi la ilaha illa anta, Khalaqtani wa ana abduka, wa ana ala ahdika wa wadika mastatatu, Audhubika min sharri ma sanatu, Abu u laka binimatika alayya, wa abu u laka bidhanbi faghfirli fa innahu la yaghfirudh dhunuba illa anta.
English Translation: “O Allah, You are my Lord. There is no god except You. You have created me and I am Your slave. I am abiding by Your covenant and Your promise as best as I can. I seek refuge in You from the evil of what I have done. I acknowledge Your favors upon me and I acknowledge my sins. So forgive me, for verily no one forgives sins except You.”
