2 Powerful Duas for Protection from Evil Eye (Nazar & Envy)

The Evil Eye (Al-Ayn) is a reality in Islam. The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said: “The influence of an evil eye is a fact…” (Sahih Muslim). It refers to the harm caused by jealousy or even excessive admiration from others. However, Allah has provided us with powerful supplications to seek cure and protection from it.

Here are authentic Duas to protect yourself and others from Nazar and jealousy.

Dua for Evil Eye: Protection & Cure (2 Options)

There are two powerful ways to seek protection: one is for curing the effect (Ruqyah) and the other is for general shielding.

Option 1: Ruqyah (For Curing Sickness/Nazar)

Importance: This is the Dua Angel Jibril (AS) performed on Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) when he was suffering. Use this if someone is already sick or affected by the evil eye.

Transliteration: Bismillahi arqika, min kulli shai’in yu’dhika, min sharri kulli nafsin aw ‘aynin hasidin, Allahu yashfika, bismillahi arqika.

English Translation: “In the Name of Allah I perform Ruqyah for you, from everything that harms you, from the evil of every soul or envious eye, may Allah heal you. In the Name of Allah I perform Ruqyah for you.” (Sahih Muslim: 2186)

Option 2: General Shield (For Self & Children)

Importance: Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) used this specific Dua to protect his grandsons Al-Hasan and Al-Husain. It is an excellent daily shield to prevent harm.

أَعُوذُ بِكَلِمَاتِ اللَّهِ التَّامَّةِ مِنْ كُلِّ شَيْطَانٍ وَهَامَّةٍ، وَمِنْ كُلِّ عَيْنٍ لَامَّةٍ

Transliteration: A’udhu bi kalimatillahit-tammati min kulli shaitanin wa hammah, wa min kulli ‘ainin lammah.

English Translation: “I seek protection in the Perfect Words of Allah from every devil and every poisonous reptile, and from every evil eye.” (Sahih Al-Bukhari: 3371)

Dua for Blessings: Saying Allahumma Barik for Nazar

Importance: The Prophet (PBUH) taught us that if we see something we like in our brother, ourselves, or our wealth, we should pray for blessings (Barakah) for it. Reciting this simple phrase prevents one from unintentionally casting an evil eye on others.

اللَّهُمَّ بَارِكْ فِيهِ

Transliteration: Allahumma barik fihi.

English Translation: “O Allah, bless him (or it).”

Alternative: You can also say “Barakallahu Fik” (May Allah bless you) or “MashaAllah la quwwata illa billah” (As Allah willed, there is no power except by Allah). (Reference: Sunan Ibn Majah: 3509 & Al-Muwatta)
